Faryal’s Cooking :: Food Photography :: Iowa Photographers

Faryal has made several appearances on the blog. This time I’m showing off her mad cooking skills.

This lady knows how to feed people. She’s interested in getting into a catering business and wanted me to come out and photograph some food she had prepared for a small gathering at her house. She allowed me to sample the goods after I was through photographing. IN-FREAKING-CREDIBLE! My favorite had to be the samosa’s. They are a deep fried pastry filled with potatoes and spices. historic preservation :: maplenol dairy barn

Yesterday, I found out that Valley High School and the omniscient school board has decided to tear down this beautiful landmark to make room for a discus course and additional “green space”. So I headed down there today to photograph it. To raise awareness, please visit the preservation Facebook page for additional information on what you can do to save this small slice of our history. This is what I captured.

I love this!!!! Take more and make calendars, cuz if the school district wins this, it is gone like everything else! Cud you also take a picture of the hoffman/beaver memorial plaque cuz they are tearing it out and throwing it away too!

wow!! these are fantastic! I LOVE the contrast of the barn with the tennis court & fence! what a great idea; itll be really sad if they go through with it 🙁

What a wonderful old barn, so solid and worthy of being lived and loved in again.

Why can’t the WDSM school district just reconfigure their $60 million plan to make the barn a focal point for a refreshment building, welcome center or some other eclectically cool use?

Have barn dances in it!

Is a mere 2200 sq ft of barn space really tying up that much green space? (Who even has $60million to build all that in this economy anyway when better education is needed?).

WDM has their priorities out of whack. SAVE THE BARN!

Sarah…Nice work. The addition of the text really makes these stand out. Thanks for sharing… I don’t live in WDM nor do I do much business there. Some, then, might consider me putting my nose where I shouldn’t and into a fight that can’t be won. But I love Iowa’s tie to agriculture. As we move further and further away from what tied us to the cycle of growth we become…I believe…less and not more. WDM is making a silly mistake they just don’t see it.

Have you considered selling any of your Barn photos? I would love to have a copy of the top photo. How can I get a copy of this photo e.g. 8 1/2 x 11 or poster size? We need more uplifting things in our life. These photos are just wonderful. Keep up the good work.

Beautiful Family :: Lucky Soda – Iowa Photographers

Sarah had an opportunity to photograph this family right before Christmas. The shoot was done in their home and it was perfect. I believe the moments captured here will be treasured for a long time.
