good memories

I don’t live too far from the house I grew up in during my elementary school years. Often I drive by to see if it’s for sale.  Maybe I’m a little curious but I think mostly I just enjoy reminiscing. Every time I approach the house I slow down to a crawl and I begin to remember simpler times.  It’s almost as if I can hear the laughter from the neighborhood kids I played with. I can still feel those wonderful summer nights and hear the sounds of locusts and crickets ushering me off to my dreams. The world seemed so large in front of me and full of endless adventure. It’s such a bizarre mixture of emotions that sweep over me when I pass by that big blue house. When I hit the gas and continue on I snap back to reality and realize this: I’m creating moments like this for my children right now. With all the responsibilities and busyness that comes along with being an adult it’s nice to remember what it was like to be child. There is simply nothing else in this world that helps quiet my soul and remind me of the wonderful innocence of being ‘little’ than having a sleeping child in my arms. I love you Lydia.

Glad you have good memories there, Chris! I sometimes dream about living in that old house again. You are right, you are creating memories for your kids. It is hard to believe that you have 4 kids(and they are all growing so fast). We are so proud of you!
