Help the land of suburban sprawl remember its beginnings. keep it standing for future generations. How many WDM residents have any idea of what its function was? TEACH THEM.

Not a surprise they would not want to bring this to the community’s attention sooner. The outcry to save it is substantial. It would be an embarrassment to raze the beautiful landmark. The intrinsic value can never be replaced. It has such character…and that’s rare.

What a lovely building and should definitely be saved. Can it be put on the list of Historic Bldgs in W. Des Moines? The W. Des Moines govt should do all it can to save/preserved the barn. It is a part of the history of the city and to not save it would be a crime. We don’t want to see all concrete and steel bldgs. We have lost many treasures in Polk County; look at downtown and all the old Victorian homes that have been demolished for steel and concrete. At least the Sherman Hills district has been partially saved and this should be the case of Maplenol Dairy Barn!!!
