Wedding, no power steering and No. 7

So this was quite the eventful weekend! We took off friday at lunch to head down to good ol’ Lee’s Summit, Missouri for my brother’s wedding. What a time it was! This time we were in front of the camera and not behind it. My brother gave me the honor of being the best man. I’m reminded of Jerry Seinfeld’s bit (…if I’m the best man, what is she[bride] doing up there with him[groom]?) Christina also asked Sarah to be a bridesmaid and have Bella be the flower girl. Oh what a time! Bella, Lydia and Clare danced the night away while Carter spent the majority of his time at the reception consuming mass quantities of chicken fingers and fruit kabobs. We all had a blast and we are excited to have Tina as part of the Davis family!

We decided to leave the camera gear behind with the exception of a few ‘getting ready’ shots of our own and then a couple of reception shots. It was a lot of fun being able to just hang out with friends and family! My sister-in-law had Jennifer with Fire Lily Photography out of Des Moines come down and do the wedding.  Jennifer was great with everyone. We look forward to seeing everything she captured.

[obligatory college football comment] Saturday was another memorable day for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Currently 7-0 and ranked Number 7! Ok so maybe that pales in comparison to my brother’s wedding but it is exciting. Next up, Michigan State! [/obligatory college football comment]

On the return trip down this evening we found out what it is like to have no power steering. We hadn’t traveled outside Lee’s  Summit for more than 5 minutes only to hear, smell and feel the power steering go out on I-70 @ 70mph.  We had to be towed in to a local oil change shop and have a hose repaired. That set us back a few hours but we are safely back at home. Enough of my rambling. Here are some photo’s taken during the special day!

Bella chose the dress herself as she said, “I love the details and how it sparkles.” Such a girl! She made a cute and adorable flower girl. There is no bias involved. That’s a fact! 😉

Don’t be fooled. What appears to be a natural suave pose from Carter is really just a distracted little boy. Can’t get his attention no matter how hard you try when cartoons are on.

My apologies to my Uncle Larry but I HAD to post this photograph. First of all, it is a great picture of my grandmother but I love how my Uncle had a look of confusion as the picture was taken. Awesome!
